AND, I'M AN ARTIST
MCM and I Grew Up Together
As the daughter of a Modernist architect, I grew up in Detroit immersed in modernist design both in our mid-century modern home as well as in the center of the blossoming Modernist culture of Detroit in the 1960s-1970s. You can say Mid-Century Modernism and I grew up together.
At Age 11 I Found My Passion
When my dad was designing our new home, he let me decorate my own bedroom when I was 11 years old, guided by his interior designer. She took me to her studio then to artisans’ workshops to watch crafts being handmade. Those were exciting transformative moments! That’s when I knew interior design was my passion! I had Eames and Herman Miller furniture in my bedroom which I didn’t recognize as significant at the time. What I knew was that I just adored the elegant, artful style. This instant passion prompted me to learn all I could about Modernism over the next several decades to acquire the expertise I have today.
Believing Aesthetics Enrich One’s Life
Our Frank Lloyd Wright-inspired home was a designer’s dream, filled with mid-century modern interiors and original artworks from around the globe. Through constant exposure, my brothers and I were raised to believe that beautiful aesthetics enrich one’s daily life. I’ve internalized this belief today.
When you’re surrounded with beauty and artistry that reflects you and “turns you on,” the overall look and feeling of your space boosts your sense of well-being and encourages you to rise to your best self each day. My mission is to design elegant, livable spaces that elevate your comfort, health and happiness so you’re inspired to create the life you most desire.
My 3 E’s: Education, Experience, Expertise
I’m relying on my degree in Business and Post-Graduate education in Art and Photography, my decades of expertise and experience in Modernism and 34 years an an entrepreneur, including 16 years as a successful Realtor, to guide me as the owner and principal designer of Cavalieri Designs.
When not designing, you’ll find me behind the lens of a real camera (I’m talking Canon, not iPhone!) or creating floral designs. Or maybe making handmade pasta.
“Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication.”
